Notes

This was only about a quarter mile up from the last spot we hunted. My son insisted we hunt here after not having any luck at the previous spot on the lake. The morning started out cloudy and began to rain at about 0800. I wasn’t expecting the rain to move in until about 1100 and I guess the weather man didn’t either!

We have yet to see deer while scouting or hunting the lake, but have seen a great deal of tracks. I’ve hunted in rain in the past and have seen many deer in a light rain, so I’m not sure that had much to do with it.

Tracks at the shoreline of the lake.

We’re going to try again next weekend at the first spot we scouted. It’s a very thick wooded area at a different location, but it’s still close to the lake.

New spot we’ll be trying out.

While it is pretty thick, there are some decent shooting lanes throughout. Maybe the heavy cover will hold a lot of deer. Hopefully we’ll at least see a few deer and get them within bow range!
